Barbara Nanshe believes in the magic of nature. She draws inspiration from the natural world, ancient wisdom and sculptural form. Barbara creates beautifully crafted works of wearable art in honour of the creative force of mother earth. Her motivation is to connect the wearer to the outer and inner force. Animals, plants and colour play a big part in her designs. The spiral, often used as a clasp in many pieces, is one of the recurring elements Barbara uses to bring forth the old earth connection. Collection styles change from time to time and include man made and natural materials and pieces purely for fun.
Barbara has been making jewellery since 1983, first creating with recycled materials. After graduating from a BA VA in Tasmania, she began holding exhibitions of her work annually. Barbara lives and works in Newcastle, Australia.
